Members of the Panhellenic Union of Nursing Staff…
Members of the Panhellenic Union of Nursing Staff (PASONOP) marched in Thessaloniki yesterday carrying a coffin to symbolize deficiencies in the country’s health system. The nurses, who held a 24-hour strike across Greece, said they were ‘burying’ the hopes of Greeks for quality healthcare. PASONOP argues that the 3,500 nurses in Thessaloniki should be doubled, based on the system’s needs. Social Security Foundation (IKA) doctors have also called strike action for today and tomorrow, demanding that more permanent staff be hired.
