Two brothers killed in Kaisariani home fire
Two brothers, aged 24 and 22, were found burnt to death yesterday in their family home in Kaisariani, eastern Athens, after a blaze engulfed their ground-floor apartment, firefighters said. The two, identified as Todi and Elton Bambakou, were found by firefighters in their bedroom while their two parents also suffered serious burns. The fifth member of the family from Albania, a 16-year-old girl, managed to escape, police added. Firefighters said that the blaze, which occurred at about 3.30 a.m., spread very quickly but was extinguished before it reached other apartments in the four-story building. Some 21 firefighters using seven fire trucks were involved in the operation. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the blaze.
