President Karolos Papoulias is greeted by German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin, yesterday. Papoulias, on a five-day trip to Germany, spoke with Merkel on a range of issues, including European Union enlargement and Turkey’s bid to join the 25-nation bloc. Papoulias had dinner with German President Horst Koehler late on Monday, when he said that Greek World War II compensation claims against Germany have not been settled nor have they been dropped. Papoulias also met with members of the local Greek community.
