People passing through Syntagma Square in central Athens yesterday crowded into an information center handing out leaflets on lung disease. The event was organized by the Hellenic Thoracic Society and the World Health Organization to disseminate information on World Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Day. Experts estimate that one in 10 Greek men and one in 20 Greek women suffer from serious lung disease often referred to as ‘smoker’s cough.’
