Defense Minister…

Defense Minister Evangelos Meimarakis (r) inspects an honor guard with his Egyptian counterpart Mohamed Hussein Tantawi in Cairo yesterday. Greece and Egypt aim to boost bilateral cooperation in the defense sector this year following significant progress in this area in 2006, Meimarakis said. ‘Our intention is to broaden and deepen our bilateral cooperation in this area,’ the minister said. Meimarakis also briefed Tantawi on Greece’s initiatives to fuel dialogue between Mediterranean countries and referred to the Greek community in Egypt as ‘a bridge of friendship and understanding between our two countries.’
