President Karolos Papoulias reviews a corps of honor guards in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier during a welcoming ceremony in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia. Papoulias, in Bulgaria on a three-day official visit, said that Greece, Bulgaria and Romania were creating a Balkan core within the European Union, following Bulgaria’s and Romania’s accession to the EU on January 1. Papoulias also said that relations between Greece and Bulgaria were entering a ‘golden age.’
