Strong lead in Alex case

There was a significant breakthrough yesterday in the probe into the disappearance of 11-year-old Alex Meshivili, as a second schoolboy accused three adults of knowing about the child’s disappearance. Sources said that during a cross-examination by magistrate Michalakis Georgiou, the 13-year-old Albanian boy said that three of the other five schoolboys accused of murdering Alex immediately told the adults that they had hidden the child’s corpse in an abandoned house in the center of Veria, northern Greece. Authorities suspect the adults helped dispose of Alex’s body, which has yet to be recovered 13 months after his disappearance. Until yesterday, only one of the five children had indicated that adults were aware that Alex had died and may have helped to hide his body. Sources said the 13-year-old claimed that one of the adults promised to give two brothers, among the five accused, motor scooters as presents if they «kept their mouths shut.» Meanwhile, an Interpol officer from Belgium is due in Greece on April 22 to help with the case.
