TB carrier ‘no health threat’

Health authorities said yesterday they were seeking a Greek man who shared a flight from the US to Europe with a 31-year-old US national diagnosed with a dangerous strain of tuberculosis. «Authorities are seeking to inform and check him,» officials said. Earlier yesterday, authorities said the US man, who visited Greece last month to get married, did not pose a health risk. «The patient’s level of infectiousness is low and there is no cause for concern,» the Health Ministry said of the American who visited Athens, Santorini and Myconos. However the European Commission asked passengers who sat near the man on one of several flights he boarded last month to undergo tests. The man flew from Atlanta to Paris on May 12, from Paris to Athens on May 14, from Athens to Santorini on May 16, from Myconos to Athens on May 21 and then to Rome. From Rome he flew to Prague, then to Montreal. He was said to be under observation at a Denver clinic yesterday.
