Shots fired at teacher outside Athens home

A high school teacher and his daughter escaped virtually unscathed after assailants shot at their car outside their house in the northern Athens suburb of Aghios Stefanos early on Saturday. The 57-year-old man and his daughter, who were not named, were sitting in the vehicle, waiting for the garage door to open when the assailants opened fire on the car with a handgun. The teacher suffered a minor injury to his nose but his daughter was not hurt. The 57-year-old was taken to the hospital for treatment but was not in any danger. Police did not release details about the number of attackers or a description of the suspects. Officers said that the incident had probably been caused by personal differences but did not elaborate on the possible motives for the attack.
