An airplane drops water…
An airplane drops water on a fire in an area of scrubland near Lake Koumoun-dourou at Aspropyrgos, west of Athens, yesterday. The fire was put out before it caused any widespread damage. However, some 7 hectares of forest and scrubland were burned in the Monastiraki area of Fokida, central Greece, yesterday before the fire was brought under control in the late afternoon. The blaze had threatened some homes in the area but with the help of two water-dropping airplanes and two helicopters, firefighters were able to prevent the properties being damaged.
