2008 budget…

Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis (right) and Finance Minister Giorgos Alogoskoufis applaud in Parliament yesterday during a debate on the 2008 budget. Voting on the budget was scheduled to take place last night at midnight with the ruling conservatives, who hold 152 of the 300 parliamentary seats, expected to approve the country’s financial plan for next year. The budget will aim to achieve a deficit of 1.6 percent of gross domestic product next year.
