New guests watch military parade
Turkish Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul yesterday watched the annual military parade in Thessaloniki to mark Greece’s entry into World War II. Gonul was one of several Balkan diplomats attending the parade for the first time after an invitation from his Greek counterpart Vangelis Meimarakis. The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia declined the invite. President Karolos Papoulias said that ‘a page has been turned’ in the Balkans.
