Prime Minister Costas Simitis, in a fiery debate on the economy in Parliament late Wednesday, presented a police report on a speech he gave in 1977, to back up his claim that democracy only began to function fully when PASOK replaced New Democracy in government in 1981. He signed it and handed it over to ND leader Costas Karamanlis.
