Alexis Tsipras…

Alexis Tsipras, the leader of Synaspismos Left Coalition, the main group in the Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA), speaks at his party’s congress in Athens yesterday. Tsipras insisted that he does not want his party to cooperate with PASOK should the Socialists win the next general election without a clear majority. ‘We are interested in changing the direction of government and in being part of the solution and not part of the crisis of our political system,’ said Tsipras. The issue has divided Synaspismos, with one wing of the party appearing to favor the idea of a coalition with PASOK.
