Residents of Mesolongi honor city’s heroes

Women and men in traditional dress marched through the streets of Mesolongi in central Greece yesterday, during celebrations to mark the 183rd anniversary of the heroic exodus of Greeks from the besieged town during the War of Independence against the Ottoman Turks. The festivities were attended by President Karolos Papoulias, Archbishop Ieronymos and other prominent politicians and clerics.
