The mass killing of Armenians…

Armenians living in Athens protested outside Parliament late on Friday to demand that Turkey change its stance and recognize the mass killing of Armenians by Ottoman Turks in 1915 as genocide. The protesters attempted to deliver a petition to the Turkish Embassy, but were prevented from advancing by riot police, who used tear gas to disperse the crowd. An event marking the deaths of as many as 1.5 million Armenians was held at the Attikon cinema in Athens yesterday. Turkey said on Saturday that a carefully worded statement by US President Barack Obama on the issue was ‘unacceptable.’
