Parthenon…
Tourists sit on the steps leading up to the Parthenon in Athens yesterday. For the first time in seven years, visitors to the Acropolis were this week able to admire its gateway, the Propylaea, without the presence of scaffolding. The project to extend the roof over the monumental gateway was completed earlier this week. As part of the project, 255 marble blocks were taken down from the monument so that metal clamps that had been installed by previous restorers but which caused cracking could be removed.
