A search began yesterday for the mayor from northern Greece who disappeared on Sunday night after informing his family that he was on his way to a business meeting. Triantafyllos Koukidis, the mayor of Paggaio, an area of northern Greece known for its ski resort, has not been seen since Sunday, December 27, when he left home in his car, a blue Audi 6 whose license plate number is NEH 4545. The mayor’s brother reported his disappearance on Tuesday. Police said that Koukidis told his family he was heading to a meeting in the area of Nea Peramos near Kavala. Officers concentrated their search yesterday west of Kavala, on the roads that he may have used to get to his destination. The mayor’s house was also searched thoroughly for any clues about his disappearance and divers are due to search the sea today.
