Siblings held for Cyprus hit

Police on Cyprus yesterday remanded a 42-year-old shareholder in a local television channel and her 37-year-old brother who have been charged as instigators in the murder earlier this month of prominent local publisher Andy Hadjicostis. The 42-year-old woman, who owns shares in Sigma Channel, where the 41-year-old publisher had been managing director, and her brother, are alleged to have ordered the gangland-style execution of Hadjicostis in Nicosia over a financial and professional dispute. According to sources, the 42-year-old woman had wanted revenge after her bid to join the channel’s board of directors was allegedly blocked. According to police, one of the three male suspects detained in connection with the fatal shooting admitted to meeting the siblings at a local restaurant to plan the hit. The suspect alleged that the pair offered him an employment contract at Sigma Channel on top of his fee.
