Protesters see red over highway tolls

Just as the traffic police are preparing to step up their presence on national roads ahead of Holy Week, when many Greeks leave the big cities and head for the countryside, officers were told that they will have to deal with a completely different type of problem: people on the highway. The protests are due to take place at Afidnes and Metamorphosi tollbooths in Attica and another six exits around Greece in opposition to the «thieving exploitation» of the national roads by the government and construction firms, the group said.
