Heavy snowfall…
A couple walks along a snow-dusted street in the northern Athens suburb of Rodopoli, yesterday. The capital’s northern suburbs were clogged with snow over the weekend as a cold snap gripped the country, bringing an unseasonably warm spell to an end. Heavy snowfall halted traffic in Pendeli and Parnitha, while strong winds disrupted ferry services from Piraeus and Aegina. A state of emergency was called yesterday on Samos as waves driven by gale-force winds pounded the eastern Aegean island’s main coastal road. Temperatures are expected to rise in the coming days.
