Reds open lead to five points

An own goal by Larissa’s Panayiotis Katsiaros nudged up Olympiakos’s lead on the top of soccer’s Super League table to five points last night. Olympiakos won 1-0 at Larissa to end the first half of the season with 36 points, as Panathinaikos stayed at 31 after losing 1-0 to Olympiakos Volou at home on Saturday through a Vicente Monje strike. Dozens of angry Panathinaikos fans stormed the pitch at the end to attack their players and coach Jesualdo Ferreira, who rushed to the locker room fearing the worst. PAOK, who will face CSKA Moscow in the last 32 of the Europa League, lost 2-1 at Kerkyra but stayed third with 23 points, along with AEK, who lost 2-0 at Iraklis. Aris, drawn to play Manchester City in the Europa League, lost 2-0 at home to Xanthi. Ergotelis beat Panserraikos 2-0, Kavala and Atromitos shared a 1-1 draw, while Panionios played out a goalless one with Asteras Tripolis.
