The head of the Church of Greece, Archbishop Christodoulos, showers Prime Minister Costas Simitis with consecrated water during yesterday’s official blessing ceremony for the beginning of the new parliamentary year. Speaking to the Church Holy Synod yesterday, Christodoulos said that the Church’s relations with the State were not as bad as before, but have still not fully recovered from the 2000 identity card crisis.
