Defense solutions by EDGE at DEFEA 2023

EDGE, one of the fastest growing groups with a leading role in the advanced technology and defense industry, participated for the first time in the International Defense and Security Exhibition DEFEA – Defense Exhibition Athens 2023, which took place in Athens on May.

During the exhibition EDGE presented a wide range of technologically advanced solutions and products that the company can offer to the European market.

Mr Ahmed Al Khoori, Senior Vice President – Strategy & Excellence in EDGE described in more detail the capabilities that the group can offer.

“In just over three years, EDGE has grown considerably to become one of the world’s leading advanced technology groups, and now consolidates more than 20 entities into four core clusters, which are Platforms & Systems, Missiles & Weapons, Electronic Warfare & Cyber Technologies, and Trading & Mission Support. We have a major focus on the adoption of 4IR technologies across all our operations to ensure we develop and maintain cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities in the UAE, and elsewhere through our international partnerships and acquisitions. Today, EDGE is driving the development of sovereign capabilities for global export and for the preservation of national security, working with front-line operators, developing deeper international and local partnerships across the defense and technology spectrum, and adopting advanced technologies such as autonomous capabilities, EW &, advanced smart weapon systems. We are creating interoperability and developing cross domain expertise – responding to an era where adaptability is everything. EDGE converges R&D, emerging technologies, digital transformation, and commercial market innovations with military capabilities to develop disruptive solutions tailored to the specific requirements of our customers as we expand our global footprint.

EDGE is also playing a major role in leveraging advanced technologies such as AI to develop superior autonomous air, land, and sea solutions, both to bolster national and regional defence and further afield as we export to key markets, including Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean region.

Following our first highly successful participation at DEFEA in Athens, we would like to reiterate that Greece and the wider Eastern Mediterranean region are crucial focus markets for EDGE, covering the government, military and civilian domains. The event offered us a unique opportunity to showcase our advanced capabilities across the air, land and sea domains. Greece is one of the countries that opens the doors for us to collaborate in the European region, as we aim to accelerate our development projects, thanks to cooperation with local companies. We look forward to building on valuable partnerships, and forging new ones, while promoting our portfolio of highly competitive products and solutions to the region’s major players.”

And he added: “Another aspect of EDGE’s product portfolio that could be of interest in Greece is Land Systems & Maritime vessels. At DEFEA, we showcased our Special Forces vehicle – LRSOV to potential Greek customers along with other products like HUNTER SP & HUNTER 2-S swarming UAV system, REACH-S unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV), and also the Shadow 25 loitering munition, along with the GARMOOSHA rotary-wing UAV. In the domain of precision-guided munitions, EDGE also showcased its multi-range DESERT STING air-to-surface precision-guided munition, as well as the Rash 1-M, Rash 2-H, and Rash 2-M precision-guided munition systems. Amongst the unmanned systems portfolio at EDGE, another key product is the 170 M-Detector USV, which can be configured for manned or unmanned operations to perform a range of mine countermeasure (MCM), surveillance and mapping missions for naval and civilian forces. These are critical areas in which EDGE is swiftly becoming a recognized global force, and we are pouring significant resources into continued innovation in this field.”
