Not ready, unaware, out of synch

You won?t find a single Greek who believes that Prime Minister George Papandreou knows exactly what he?s doing and has a plan for getting Greece out of the fiscal deadlock within the next few months.

The numbers have shown without a shadow of doubt that Greece will never survive unless radical reforms and bold decisions are adopted.

This fact, however, has not been adequately explained to the public and it is certain that bold reforms will provoke reactions from a large section of the ruling PASOK party as well as the ranks of government.

The prime minister, however, is doing nothing about this; he has made no moves to prepare the ground for the changes that lie ahead. Papandreou has failed to keep the ministers who question his policies in line and has not been able to face the Greek public with the truth either.

So, when the time comes for the inevitable decisions to be made, the public will be caught unprepared, PASOK will be caught unawares and the government will be caught uncoordinated.
