Violence is not the answer
Violence and senselessness have spread around the country at great speed.
A series of violent attacks took place yesterday. These attacks targeted mayors who are relative newcomers in their current positions, people who have neither carried out special favors nor who belong to the incapable and corrupt political class of the 1974 political changeover.
Nevertheless, those who carried out the attacks were people who had in the past been deceived by politicians that had made them promises of a job for life based on loose conditions.
These victims — because that is precisely what they are — are now seeing their incomes being dramatically reduced and find themselves unable to pay back loans taken out before the crisis struck.
While their rage is clearly justified, the way in which they express it is unacceptable and outrageous.
This stooping to uncontrollable acts of violence, sit-ins and all the general chaos has to come to an end before it is too late.
