Risky myopic tactics

The efforts being made to bring down Lucas Papademos?s government are showing no signs of abatement. There are political and other public figures who wish to convince public opinion that the premier is unable to govern, that there is no reason for swift, painful decisions to be made, and that the only solution is an immediate call for elections.

Clearly these people are in a hurry to rise to power, while at the same time they wish to continue discrediting the ?Papademos solution? even after elections. Their services rendered to this country are of the worst kind and are leading it to the brink of disaster.

The interim government was agreed upon by the three participating parties in view of immediately carrying out all that is required for the country to secure the EU-ECB-IMF bailout. This was something which was made clear right from the start. Some of them, however, now wish to prevent all kinds of decision-making as well as transfer the responsibility of the ensuring disaster to Papademos. These are nothing more than shortsighted tactics which may earn a few votes, as well as bring about the final collapse.
