Campus conflicts

The events that unfolded earlier this week at the Technical College of Patra, when a group of students held their rector and teachers hostage in order to pressure them to reject the government’s plan to overhaul tertiary education, shows in no uncertain terms that unionism in the student body has simply crossed the line.

Threats, use of force and insults have no place anywhere in society, and even more so in the academic community. However, the worst thing that could happen would be the administration of the college or the Ministry of Education giving in to this kind of behavior.
