Citizens must do their duty

Tax evasion remains a major plague on this country.

Besides the kind of efforts that are currently being carried out by the Greek state, we all have to take into account our own responsibility in order for this damaging phenomenon to be curbed.

No more tolerance can be shown toward entrepreneurs who do not issue receipts and end up keeping the value-added tax that we pay in the first place.

It is up to us to insist on receiving receipts when we pay for goods and services and to file complaints against tax evaders.

We cannot hold the state and the politicians responsible for absolutely everything that is wrong.

Tax evaders clearly live among us and it is our duty to take them to task and, if necessary, file complaints against them. If we don’t, it will be the law-abiding citizens alone who will be forced to continue to bear the unfair and crippling consequences.
