The saga with receipts
Being a taxpayer in Greece nowadays is nothing short of a challenge.
The saga regarding the collection of receipts, for instance, has angered everyone because no one really knows what applies right now and what may come into effect tomorrow.
To a large extent, Greek society came to embrace the need for everyone to issue and demand receipts for all purchases, making a real effort to impose this practice across the spectrum of transactions.
Since, however, there have been so many retractions, misfires and changes made to the tax code that people are beginning to have serious doubts as to whether those in charge are competent enough to carry out the duties they have been assigned and whether or not they are in contact with Greek reality.
There is little doubt that showing more professionalism and seriousness in these kind of matters would be to everyone’s benefit.
