Keeping the equilibrium
The state and the government acted in a catalytic manner on the issue of Golden Dawn, with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias taking the initiative following the brutal murder of Pavlos Fyssas, an event that shocked Greece to its core.
The country should never have been allowed to become a playing field for criminal gangs acting under the mantle of political beliefs, and it is now up to the Greek Republic as a whole to deal with the ongoing case against Golden Dawn with complete transparency.
What Greece needs right now is stability and some sense of normalcy. The fact is that the overwhelming majority of the citizens of this country abhor violence and do not want to see social explosions and revolutions. What most want is jobs.
The Greek establishment will have to keep a very cool head in the weeks and months to come; hyperbole and over-the-top confrontations could prove dangerous at this point as the last thing Greece needs is an incident that could destabilize it completely or trigger snap general elections.
We know from recent events that the determination to see this political crisis through is there. What we need now is level-headedness and national consensus.
