Taking stock

Whether consciously or not, the end of the year always makes us think about and evaluate what has happened and what experiences we have gained on an individual and collective level.

It has not been an easy year for anyone, and in that respect we all hope that 2014 will be much better. However, for that to happen we need to evaluate the events and achievements of 2013 carefully and set some criteria to our assessment. We need, for example, to remain objective and to be effective in our assessment of what was achieved in terms of the goals that were set. Most importantly, we need to see whether the foundations were laid for Greece to come out of the crisis and start on the path back to growth.

Basically, we need to decide whether there is a plan in motion to this end. Of course, it is the government that should be giving this much thought, as well as the country’s politicians so they can start the new year by giving the people a sense of vision – something they so desperately need.
