Welcome movement
Many have spoken about the need to spur economic growth in this debt-wracked country, but very few officials seem to actually be doing anything meaningful to make this happen.
Recent weeks have nevertheless witnessed a renewed drive to complete major infrastructure projects around Greece which had for various reasons stalled. In a country that has been locked in recession for six years, these projects are clearly key for the national economy as well as local communities because they create jobs and enhance prospects for development.
Infrastructure Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis has shown a great deal of will and determination to kick-start and bring to completion various projects that were at risk of becoming synonymous with stagnation. All that can only be welcomed in a country where economic activity has remained frustratingly elusive for years.
