Stop this silliness

There are some habits that the government just can’t seem to kick.

One of the most provocative – and old-fashioned – of these is its penchant for appointing failed politicians and inept cronies to important positions in the state apparatus.

What kind of backward thinking is this?

Is it really so difficult for the people who make these appointments to see that for every point they score within the party by adopting such silly tactics they alienate hundreds of voters who are sickened by the sad reality that nothing has changed in the way the political system operates?

If they are so ignorant of this simple fact, then they should at least stop harboring the illusion that society either tolerates such phenomena or is completely indifferent to them, because neither is the case.
