OPINION

Hold your fire

Right now the country is involved in crucial negotiations and our duty is to act responsibly and sensibly. No one has the right to rejoice if things don’t turn out favorably for Greece.

This is our country and its safety and prosperity stand above political parties and personalities. The current opposition must throw its support behind any government decisions that are for the overall good, even if these stand in contrast to what members of ruling SYRIZA had said before the election.

Everyone stands to benefit from a shift toward logic. At the same time, however, the way some people rush to label a traitor anyone expressing anxiety or reservation over the negotiations’ outcome is quite repulsive.

The negotiation is a national affair, not the subject of a soccer dispute. National division and vulgar extremism are damaging the country.
