DEFENSE EXPENDITURES: (Commentary in Kathimerini): «According to reports from Washington, there is a question as to whether US aid to Greece, already reduced, will be able to continue to be paid without difficulty. Many reasons are given and among them one that is due to a misunderstanding. The American public has the mistaken impression that we want to increase military expenditures solely for our own purposes and not for the defense of the entire Western world. We, from this corner of the world, are not of course in a position to enlighten the American public. The US government knows very well that Greece’s defense is necessary for the defense of the West, which is led by the US. Until now we have borne a burden of responsibility that was disproportionate to our capabilities. The American people will immediately realize the importance of Greece’s defense problem only if its government apprises them of it.» OLYMPIAKOS: At the Panathinaikos stadium, before a crowd of 12,000 spectators, the Vojvodina team played their last game. The Yugoslav team defeated Olympiakos 2-0.
