Let go of the past
The way things have evolved in Greece, New Democracy is arguably the only party capable of safeguarding the country’s European future.
The conservative party’s appeal can and should reach beyond its traditional partisan and ideological boundaries because voters that did not cast their ballot for it the last elections are now in search of a dynamic, pro-European party to vote for when a new round of elections is called.
The party should not make the mistakes of the past and appear as though the only thing it is capable of doing is recycling the same old people and ideas. This is not the way for New Democracy to win over the Greeks. On the contrary.
Now is the time for the party to convince Greek voters that it has the appropriate people and a plan to govern the country.
Besides, judging from the experience of the recent referendum, identifying with the old political staff only leads to defeat.
