Inevitable mudslinging
SYRIZA and other like-minded parties have been the stars of a bonanza of mudslinging over the past few years. They have embraced every accusation that has been leveled against any of their political opponents with gusto and blown them way out of proportion, often targeting individuals and officials who were completely innocent.
Now the tables have been turned and the leftist party and its cohorts have come under attack and are facing all sorts of accusations.
That this should happen now is only natural because the arrogance of power rarely allows anyone, especially politicians, to consider that one day they may become the victims of such allegations rather than the ones pointing fingers.
Scandalmongering and vilification are especially abhorrent during a pre-election period, but when you’re moving in the less salubrious depths of politics, it is inevitable that some mud will be thrown at you as well.
