A hard flow to control

Greece must start preparing itself to cope with tens of thousands of refugees and migrants who will be stranded on its soil. A number of experts in the matter are predicting that it will be extremely difficult to halt the flow of refugees and migrants reaching Greece from Turkey in the near future.

The coalition government failed to adequately prepare for the arrival of large numbers of refugees and migrants, and as a result of this failure we are currently observing a chaotic situation unfolding in several parts of the country on our TV screens.

Perhaps some people actually wanted this situation to develop, believing that in this way Greece would get bad publicity as a destination for refugees and migrants and deter others from embarking on the dangerous journey.

But they clearly underestimated the serious damage done by the images of a humanitarian disaster and chaos currently prevailing in the country.
