Unstable Turkey

The principal aim of the terrorist attack on Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport on Tuesday was to destabilize Turkey.

An unstable Turkey could at the same time become an unpredictable Turkey and such a development could prove extremely negative as far as Greece is concerned.

The current state of affairs is particularly serious and is no excuse for any kind of complacency.

There are many dangers lurking out there right now.

Above all, what is needed at this point is for everyone to pay attention to what is going on around them, as well as delicate handling on the country’s political and diplomatic level.

The crisis could take on unforeseen and out-of-control dimensions that could lead to Greece facing the threat of being swept up in the situation.

It is of vital importance that the coalition government’s leadership shows vigilance and prudence vi-a-vis the emerging situation in Turkey.
