Disgrace in education

The situation at most Greek universities is simply terrible. No other country in the so-called civilized world compares to Greece in this field. Gangs have been left to take over control, effectively turning university campuses into squats for anarchists, hotspots for migrants, places for drug dealing, storage areas for Molotov cocktails and whatever else they might think of.

Authorities are aware of what’s going on but choose not to intervene. Rectors call on the state for assistance and it, in turn, turns a deaf ear as the former refuse, with very few exceptions, to get involved.

Meanwhile, parents spend hard-earned money for their children to go to universities which look nothing like places of learning.

It’s time for parents and students to revolt and demand that someone finally musters the political will and a consensus among political forces so that this disgrace ends once and for all.
