Untapped potential

Greece has a huge amount of untapped potential as a country. The leftist-led administration ought to invest in this potential and release the people’s creative forces.

However, we should not give into delusions: Leftist Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and his officials cannot overcome their ideological and party DNA.

Although SYRIZA officials should have adjusted to the reality at home as well as abroad by now, it seems they are simply unable to get past themselves.

Even on the rare occasion that a sense of pragmatism does kick in, we never see the premier cracking down on ministers and officials who insist on treating the free market concepts of entrepreneurship, investment and profit in the same way as they did back in the days when SYRIZA was struggling to muster enough electoral support to enter Parliament.
