It’s wait and see for now
Cabinet reshuffles very rarely serve the purpose of solving significant political or practical problems dogging a government.
In most cases they accelerate political developments and simply make the sand in the hourglass run faster. Friday’s reshuffle by Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was no exception. It was the product of political exchange and a quest to restore balance inside the party.
The country needs a government that will move on boldly with reforms and privatizations and also attract investment.
It also needs an administration that does not have such a divisive effect. In other words, given the situation the country is facing, there is a need for a serious change in direction and strategy.
It will soon become clear whether there is even a remote chance of something like this happening or whether we’re entering a fresh period of unpredictable developments.
