PEOPLE’S RIGHT WING: The labor minister, Mr Gonis, has tabled a bill in Parliament setting up an independent Labor Housing Organization based in Athens for the purpose of providing housing in either single dwellings or apartment blocks to workers and others in paid employment in both the state and private sectors, on the condition that they or their wives are not owners of other property. The organization is to be administered by a seven-member board, consisting of two workers’ representatives, two representatives of employers and three civil servants. The organization’s resources will be from the state budget, state lotteries, loans and other sources. HEALTH TEST: The minister of welfare has announced that within the week he will table a bill in Parliament establishing a prenuptial health certificate. That is, people planning to marry will have to undergo medical tests to be issued with a certificate. The attending physician will not issue certificates to those he believes should not get married.
