CYPRUS: London, 12 – A pro-Greek voice in favor of Cyprus’s union with Greece and negotiations between the British and the Greek governments was heard today in the House of Commons from a Labor Party MP. However, the response from British Secretary of State Selwyn Lloyd was categorically negative. Mr Lloyd said the British government did not intend to discuss the issue with the Greek government and reiterated the argument that for at least 400 years Cyprus had not been part of Greece. PRAYER SERVICE IN FAVOR OF A CHANGE OF REGIME: On the occasion of Romania’s national day, the newspaper Voice of Freedom, published by Romanian refugees and the Athens representative of the National Committee of Romanians in Exile, is to hold a church service on Sunday in Aghios Constantinos, Omonia Square, to pray for the liberation of Romania and for the Greeks trapped behind the Iron Curtain. ART THEATER: Today at 9.30 p.m. in the basement of the Orpheas Theater will be the premiere of the Art Theater with a performance of Thornton Wilder’s «Our Town.»
