Tourism must be protected
The tourism industry must be protected because it remains the economy’s primary engine of growth. Through thick and thin, tourism has historically been a steady and primary source of revenue for the country.
But the proliferation of robberies and thefts targeting tourists around popular sights across the country, especially in Athens, have threatened to mar the industry’s reputation.
What is positive, however, is the recent response of police authorities, which have moved in and unraveled some of the crime rings that have been so active and audacious.
