Anger over deals

The main opposition has rightly chosen not to proceed with a censure motion against the government. Its rejection of the Prespes deal is clear and will be presented during Thursday’s debate.

The political confrontation may be fierce, but it must not harm institutions. The backroom deals that led to MP transfers have angered citizens, who vote for one thing and end up with something else.

If politicians overreact, the only ones to benefit will be extremists who charm angry voters with simplistic and dangerous slogans.
