RESTAURANTS: (From the column «An Athenian’s Notes»): «A positive sign that we have made progress are the small restaurants that have sprung up in Athens and in many other towns and cities in Greece. Thanks to their modern facilities, their desire to please and competition, they are excellent from the point of view of food, cleanliness and appearance. With very little money, a working person can have a pleasant meal, served on clean tablecloths and by clean waiters.» END OF AN ERA: The market police have issued a ban on the use of the old style of balancing scales with weights for each pan. This applies to all sellers of food and other household supplies. SPARKLING WINES: The finance minister has issued an order to the relevant ministry service to examine the question of the sparkling wine known as «inozythos.» He is to make a statement in reply to a question that has been tabled in Parliament as to why the State Chemical Laboratory issued a license permitting the manufacture of wine. (Ed. note: «Inozythos» is sold under the label «Eviva»).
