Beyond the curve

It is a ritual with national university exams to deride the process after students who have effectively failed are still able to secure a place thanks to a system of grading their performance on a curve.

What is needed is not just to change the base grade required to make it into university, but profound reform, starting with the abolition of departments created simply to accommodate clientelist interests.
