BIDAULT IN CEPHALONIA: Argostoli, 15 – At 6 p.m. today, the steamship Mediterranean, arriving from Venice, docked in the port of Lixouri on the Ionain island of Cephalonia. On board was the former prime minister of France, Mr Georges Bidault, accompanied by his wife. Also on board were some 400 Greek and foreign passengers. Mr and Mrs Georges Bidault disembarked from the steamship and were welcomed by the mayor and various other local authorities. The former French prime minister toured the entire town with his wife and, as he left, he promised that the orphanage and the Lixouri senior citizens’ home would be rebuilt at his own expense. At 6.30 p.m., Mr and Mrs Georges Bidault arrived in Argostoli, where they were received by the Greek deputy minister for the restoration of the earthquake-stricken islands, Mr G. Romanos, and other local officials. The former French prime minister then visited the village of Lakythras which is to be rebuilt by the French government. The Mediterranean sailed away from the port of Argostoli at 7.30 p.m.
